A selection of the awards, shortlists and media moments that have shaped Sunsurf Solar's journey — from the Sötåsen pilot in 2022 to Sweden's largest floating solar park in 2025.

    2025 – Stora Ingenjörspriset

    Sunsurf Solar won Stora Ingenjörspriset in the Innovation category on the company's fifth anniversary — one of Sweden's most prestigious engineering awards, recognising Swedish technology development with strong potential for public benefit. Organised by: the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), Ny Teknik, Preem AB, Scania Group, Skanska, Sweco and the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket).

    2025 – E-Prize, finalist

    Sunsurf Solar was a finalist in E-Prize 2025 in the Renewable Energy category. The jury highlighted the solution for combining local power generation, reduced evaporation, and freed-up land surface. Organised by: Aktuell Hållbarhet, Dagens Industri and E.ON.

    2024 – Solenergipriset (Swedish Solar Energy Award)

    Sunsurf Solar was recognised at Solenergipriset 2024 for the work behind Sweden's first floating solar installation — proof that Swedish solar isn't confined to ground or rooftop arrays. Organised by: Svensk Solenergi.

    2023 – SVT Draknästet (Dragons' Den)

    Sunsurf Solar appeared on SVT's Draknästet in 2023, where the founders pitched the vision of floating solar on Swedish water surfaces to a national TV audience — broadening interest in the technology.

    2024 – Startup of the Year

    Sunsurf Solar was named Startup of the Year 2024 at the Trollhättan Business Awards. The jury cited the company's role in the green transition and its ability to unlock large-scale solar on otherwise unused surfaces. Organised by: Innovatum Science Park.

    2022 – Innovatum Startup Incubator

    Sunsurf Solar joined the Innovatum Startup Incubator in 2022 — an important step early in the company's journey. The incubator provided strategic support for ongoing development of PowerModule™ and PeatModule™, and helped bring the first pilot at Sötåsens Naturbruksgymnasium into operation.
