Jönköping — commissioned June 2025
Sweden's largest floating solar park
Jönköping Environmental Services is Sweden's largest floating solar park, commissioned by Sunsurf Solar in June 2025. The installation has 48 PowerModule™ units and 144 bifacial panels on a leachate pond — 116.1 kWp of installed capacity, producing clean electricity in the middle of an active waste facility without taking up any land. Clean power inside a demanding industrial site
At the end of June 2025, Sweden's largest floating solar park went live on a leachate pond at Jönköping Environmental Services. The facility has worked for years to make its operations more climate-smart, with a steady focus on switching to clean energy. Floating solar has turned that ambition into reality.
The installation has 48 PowerModule™ units and 144 bifacial panels, totalling 116.1 kWp of installed capacity. The panels capture both direct sunlight and light reflected off the water below, delivering up to 15% more output than a comparable ground-mounted installation.

Built for leachate water and winter snow loads
The system powers operations on the pond with clean electricity, without affecting the logistics or function of the waste facility. The PowerModule™ units are built from HDPE pontoons and frames in aluminium or coated steel, engineered to handle the harsh conditions of landfill water and the snow loads of a Swedish winter.
The project brings local clean generation with a lower climate footprint, and shows how renewable energy can fit inside demanding industrial environments without disturbing operations.
Miljöhantering i Jönköping sees the project as a key part of the municipality's climate work — and a useful demonstration of how technical innovation can strengthen both energy supply and environmental benefit.
