Sustainable irrigation at Säve Nursery
Säve Nursery has worked for years to lower its carbon footprint. Floating solar on the irrigation pond now feeds clean electricity straight to the pump stations and the rest of the operation. Last updated: 24 April 2026.

Where production and environment meet
Säve Nursery, north of Gothenburg, has long worked with sustainable practices to keep its carbon footprint low. Investing in floating solar was a natural step in its long-term strategy: pair production with environmental responsibility, and make smart use of resources already on site.
The installation has held up under tough conditions, snow and ice included. On warm summer days, reflection off the water lifts output while evaporation drops. Water cooling keeps panel temperatures down, so capacity stays steadier than on a rooftop, where performance often dips in the heat.

Solar electricity straight to the pump station
The energy produced at Säve Nursery covers the pump stations and other parts of the operation, cutting reliance on conventional power. Sunsurf Solar's patented anchoring also absorbs significant water-level variation — a flexible, reliable fit for the nursery's irrigation pond.
It's going to be a lot of fun following Sunsurf's journey. The product is a smart solution that feels robust and reliable. Floating solar is becoming part of our strategy to grow plants in a climate-neutral, green and fossil-free way.
